On Saturday, September 24, 2016, the award-winning Classroom Edition of ELECTORAL DYSFUNCTION will be featured at a conference on “Teaching About the 2016 Elections: Preparing Students for Political Engagement.” Hosted by the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, this day-long conference is an opportunity for K-12 teachers to learn about election-related issues; to receive training in effective learning strategies; and to be introduced to national civic education programs and their curricula. The film will be featured at a keynote session for all conference attendees; a breakout session will offer educators the opportunity to delve more deeply into the curriculum that accompanies the Classroom Edition. Classroom Edition To Be Featured at California Social Studies Conference – 3/4/16

On Friday, March 4, 2016, the California Council for the Social Studies will feature three screenings and discussions of the ELECTORAL DYSFUNCTION CLASSROOM EDITION at its annual conference in Costa Mesa. Hosted by political humorist Mo Rocca and officially endorsed by NCSS, the Classroom Edition is a 36-minute version of the award-winning PBS documentary on voting and voting rights. The ELECTORAL DYSFUNCTION team is planning to give free copies of the Classroom Edition DVD to at least 500 conference attendees. ACLU of Colorado to Host Screening and Discussion — 5/5/2015

In 1965, after the dramatic marches in Selma led to passage of the Voting Rights Act, many concluded that the roadblocks restricting millions of Americans from casting ballots had been permanently removed. Fifty years later, however, the battle over voting rights has been reignited.

On May 5, 2015 — Denver’s Election Day — the ACLU of Colorado will screen Electoral Dysfunction, a nationally acclaimed documentary in which political humorist Mo Rocca takes a road trip to discover how voting works – and doesn’t work – in America.

This event is open to the public and will be held at the Sie FilmCenter at 7:30 pm. The screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmakers David Deschamps and Bennett Singer, who directed the film with Leslie D. National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) to Host Screening and Workshop at National Conference in Boston — 11/22 and 11/23/14

The National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) will host a screening and discussion of ELECTORAL DYSFUNCTION as part of its 2014 national conference in Boston. The screening will take place on Saturday, November 22, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston from 3:35 pm to 5:30 pm. Following the screening, a panel of educators, political insiders and voting experts will join the filmmakers for a discussion of the documentary, the issues it addresses, and its use as a classroom resource. On Sunday, November 23, the film team and a panel of educators will present a two-hour workshop entitled “Electoral Dysfunction as a Catalyst for Civic Learning.” This session will take place from 8 to 10 am.
